Turkey Question: Where to Stay Along the Coast? Central Aegean or Southern Aegean?

My husband and I are going to Turkey in February, and have three nights allotted to the coastal area. Our itinerary, as it stands, has us in Selcuk for three nights. However, in reading my trusty Fodors Turkey guidebook the southern Aegean towns and ruins sound amazing as well and now I'm torn.

So, any suggestions? If you had only three nights, where would you base yourself? I am 29, DH is 31 and we enjoy ancient ruins, general sightseeing, small towns and villages and beautiful scenery.

Thanks!
Tracy

Looking at the time of the year I would stick to Ephesus, Kusadasi, Sirince area and allot a day to Ephesus and rest, a day to Pamukkale and another fro Prienne, Miletus, Didyma.

Happy travelling,

Murat

Thanks Murat, and thank you to Steve for topping.

After doing some more research, I think we are going to go with our original plan as you mentioned, Murat. The flights are convenient and we really want to see Ephesus. Can't wait!

Thanks again!

IMHO Ephesus is definitely the best ruins to see. Murat's advice is sound. Pamukkale is definitely worth a visit.

We had a wonderful stop in Selcuk and would definitely recommend you stay there.
