Trip to Shannon and Dublin

I am trying to help the priest I work for plan a trip to Ireland. He will be staying in Shannon for one week with friends and then wants to travel to Dublin for a few days, flying back home from Dublin. Are there buses or trains from Shannon to Dublin (of course there must be, but how do we find info on them?). Also any recommendations on hotels in Dublin? Padre is a 68 year old Jesuit, with family ties to Ireland and has simple tastes, but I want him to stay in a place that is comfortable and fun. Thanks for any advice.

Train timetables can be checked at http://www.irishrail.ie/home/. He will probably have to travel to Limerick city (not Limerick junction) as there is no train station in Shannon. Alternatively take the bus, check out timetables at http://www.buseireann.ie/site/home/.
The bus arrives in Dublin at busaras, the main bus station in Dublin. The journey will be about 4hrs or more depending on the traffic. The Jurys group of hotels are a good choice, see http://www.jurydoyle.com/ or for other hotels http://www.goireland.com/

Thanks for your suggestions-- checked out the bus schedule and found there is daily service every hour- change in Limerick. Also the hotel site was great- thank you so much for the help. This is the first trip to Ireland for Padre and I appreciate the help to make it a wonderful time for him. He works hard here in Honduras and deserves a relaxing and fun trip.

He could fly Shannon - Dublin in 30 minutes. Check www.aerlingus.com
Fare is around E55.00.
Look at www.visitdublin.com for accommodation. Could he not stay with the Jesuits in Dublin for free.

You could get a train from ennis but i think there is a change to another train. Limerick is more direct and his friends could arrange for him to get to Limerick station.

There are lots of places he could stay in Dublin. I think a B&B might be good for him noise wise and or he should get in touch with the Jesuits and ask for any reccommendations or they may offer a room if they have one free. Clerical accommodation is tight from what I have seen of my relatives who are priests and nuns so you cannot assume they have one but they would be a big help for him and a nice contact in Dublin.
