Trip to Normandy and Paris in September
I've already received much valuable information from this site but I still have some questions about a trip I'm planning for my husband and me (early 60s) for Sept 2009.
We'll be arriving at Charles de Gaulle from NYC on Sat am and plan on continuing directly to Bayeux that day. It seems that we should take a shuttle to Gare St Lazare for our train to Bayeux. Do you agree?
We'll be staying at the Hotel Churchill in Bayeux for 3 nights with plans for a 2 day tour on Battlebus. Any suggestions for cafes or restaurants while we're there?
On Tuesday we're planning on taking the Hotel Churchill shuttle to Mont St. Michel in the morning and leaving for Paris by train in the afternoon. What is the best plan for traveling from Gare St Lazare to the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Eu Bonaparte by public transport? Also restaurant and cafe suggestions in this area? We'll be staying in this hotel from Tuesday night to Saturday morning.
On Saturday afternoon we're traveling to Charles de Gaulle for a late afternoon flight home. It seems that we should be able to take the RER B directly to the airport from the St. Michel Notre Dame station. Or am I reading the metro map incorrectly?
Any help or suggestions from you Paris experts would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Form Gare St lazare, bus 95 (direction Porte de Vanves) has a stop on Rue des Rennes in the St Germain District, one street over from rue Bonaparte.
By Metro Line 14 direction Olympiades, get off at Chatelet. Change lines to Line 4, direction Porte D'Orleans, get off at Saint Germin des Pres station. Travel time (from RATP site) is 4 minutes for each leg. Chatelet is a large station. There are several different Metro Lines near St Lazare. The above itinerary was the quickest one according to RATP site
You are correct that the St Michel RER station is on the direct line to CDG.

Wow you're really planning to hustle in Mont St. Michel given your plan. I'm assuming you already checked the Churchill hotel times for their shuttle to and from the Mont. We did a driving trip through Normandy in April, 2008. Stayed at the Churchill hotel ourselves and did a 1 day Battlebus tour (you'll love it). Since we drove, I'll let the train experts answer your questions there, but I believe you are correct that you have to go to Gare St. Lazare - there isn't a direct shot from CDG, but for some reason I also thought I remembered there wasn't a direct route to Bayeux - that you had to go via Caen.

Two years ago we did a short stay in Bayeux at the Churchhill Hotel. Great hotel! Not fancy, but clean, well kept, fantastic location, and very nice/helpful staff. The two places we went for dinner were Le Petite Bistro (good) and La Fringale (loved it!). We did the one day Battlebus tour and really wished we had opted for the 2 day. And this was 3 females...myself, my mother and my 16 yr old DD. The tours are so good and the guides are fantastic. We took the train from Paris, Gare St. Lazare if I remember correctly, and took the direct train so we didn't have to change in Caen.

Thank you for your information and suggestions.
Does anyone have restaurant/cafe suggestions for the area around Hotel Bonaparte on Rue Bonaparte?
patandhank: The shuttle to Mont St. Michel leaves at 9 am and returns to Bayeux at 1:30 pm so we would still have time to return to Paris that afternoon. But we've decided to stay in Bayeux until Wed. morning.
