Hi all! Thanks for the replies. As to when we will be there, we plan on being there mid September of 2014 and will be staying in the Ornos area. Back in 2001 when my friend and I went, we both had international drivers licenses (obtained from AAA). If the bus service is good (mind you, we'll probably be just taking that into downtown Mykonos), then we'll probably not need a car.

Ok, so for an update on this. Everything is a go! I kinda did this backwards in terms of booking things. First thing I had to get nailed down was the lodging. I looked at pretty much everything on the south side of Mykonos. There were some nice properties, but in the end we went with this one: http://www.vrbo.com/122478. It has great reviews and despite it not being right on the beach it's close enough - just a little walk. Then I got the roundtrip tickets from Athens to Mykonos. I was spurred into action getting them because "supposedly" there were only four seats left for the departure time we wanted (1050a), but as of today it looks like there are still 9+ available. Oh well! For the major journey of DFW to ATH, I kept watching the airfare. Naturally it didn't go down...it just kept going up. Earlier this week I got a little sticker shock when I saw that the price had jumped to over $1,700! Luckily for me this was all just part of the "fluctuation" ticket prices go through and it was back down to $1,390 yesterday (and this is a one stop flight - DFW-PHL-ATH). I haven't seen anything lower than that for a one stop, so not wanting to chance it, tickets were bought. I tell ya, those taxes and fees really, really horrible. Anyways, the big things are now out of the way. The next things to hem and haw about are whether or not to rent a car, should I book boat tickets, etc. Still more fun to come!
