Trip to Edinburgh and London

Hi all,

I will be travelling to Edinburgh on business and will have free time starting on a Friday morning. I need to leave for home on Wednesday. I was thinking of staying in Edinburgh into Sunday and flying down to London and staying there till Wed. However, I hear York is a great place.
1) So ... how long in Edinburgh?
2) Take a train to York and spend the night?
3) York to London or is Stratford worth seeing?
4) I've been to London but my wife hasn't - maybe a day and 1/2 there?

I like castles and historical places. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated!

Thanks.

I'm doing almost the same but first London then Edinburgh. I really think London is worth even it's only one day and a half I think your first option was the best...staying in Edinburgh till Sunday and fly down to London. (and it's cheaper than the train for weekends...)

"(and it's cheaper than the train for weekends...)"

Cheaper than £12.50 which is the lowest price for an Edinburgh to London train ticket?

See www.gner.co.uk

Sorry, I forgot to say that I looked for next Monday, May 1 , it was probably more expensive and London to Edinburgh...I don't know if Edinburgh to London is cheaper. At www.gner.co.uk
quoted me 120 pounds a one-way standard ticket , I found it too expensive and booked with bmi.

It's what happens when you try to book late for travel over a bank holiday weekend.

BTW cheapest one-way tickets currently for 1st May are £75.50 and if you could have travelled on the 2nd May you'd have paid £28

ohhh, but my dates were fixed, I couldn't change it. And yes, my friend in edinburgh had that price too, 72 pounds..I don't know why they gave that other to me Anyway, I was in a hurry and didn't think too much..just wanted to be sure of the transport on a bank holiday, the trip was unexpected and I did everything two days ago.
