Hi Margaretlb, thanks so much for your enjoyable trip report. I have a question for you. We are catching a connection at FCO to Venice and we have 3 hours to kill at the airport. Is it at all possible to catch a taxi, about 9:30-10am, for pizza or a bowl of pasta in Rome and be back at the airport by 12:30? Is this more of a bother than an experience? Do Italians serve lunch that early?? Thanks in advance for any advise or insight!

Gee, I'm so glad to see my trip report is still being enjoyed. I re-read it last month myself so that I could relive each day. Sis re-read what she calls her "book", too.
SUMMAGOLD, I think I'd play it safe and spend the three hours at the airport. Checking in at FCO has caused a litany of horror stories from other Italy travelers I know but, then again those are stories about checking in for flights back to the States. Maybe flights within Italy don't have checkin issues.I do think you'd probably have to have 90 minutes or so to checkin for the domestic flight - you'll find that in Italy, service staff take their time . The cab ride is about 30 minutes one way and I think the set fare is about E35 so you'd have to decide if the expense is worth it to just spend an hour in Rome.
