LoveItaly - thank you so much for the warm wishes. I am so sorry to hear about your son-in-law's experience - really terrible. To go to a "home away from home" and have that happen, especially given the circumstances... it's just a sad, immoral thing that people in the restaurant business can behave this way. It's a lesson that, I now know, tourists and locals both must take with them in terms of asking for the cost upfront (and not just in Italy -- getting a menu with prices is the best idea for anywhere!!)

Annhig - sorry to hear that it happened to you, too -- though I'm glad you did find good value in other restaurants you visited. I guess as travelers, we all take the good with the bad -- I'm glad it sounds like you had more good experiences than not!

Ahh, Amalfi - I'm working on the 2nd part now.... I am looking forward to sharing our experiences about this wonderful place!

ItalyTraveler--Best wishes on your marriage Sounds like a great honeymoon so far. Venice is beautiful and I would love to get back there soon. We too had mosquito bites, so had to hit the pharmacy. We had the same thing in Portugal, so after those 2 trips it has become a joke in our family as we must buy bug bite cream in whatever country we are in. Who would have ever guessed? LOL! BTW, I think cemetaries are beautiful too.
