I'm glad you enjoyed it, Toucan2! We had 2 maps - the Devon & Cornwall A-Z, and OS 1:000,000, but we really only used them to get a visual of our routes, relying on the GPS for the most part. It was a happy coincidence that our rental car had GPS. I was planning to use an app on my phone, but it wouldn't have worked nearly as well as the in-dash GPS.

BBgt, yes, it is really nice to have that journal and rather amazing that I have hung on to it all these years. I'm so glad my brother and SIL really encouraged me in writing in it. It's a habit I carried with me.
It really was a pivotal trip in my life for many reasons, and so I will always have a very soft spot in my life for Edinburgh.
