trip insurance

Quick Question. does anyone have a recommendation re: trip insurance. I have health ins in the US (not a great plan). Just wondering since I'll be in Europe for a month if you think it's a good idea to buy insurance. I booked all my own flights/hotels, is there a general medical/travel plan that's relatively cheap. I purchased on through Quantas last year on a trip to OZ and it was cheap.

Pixie, if I may hitch a ride--I am looking for travel insurance to cover cancellation costs.

There are a number of good products. The easiest way to compare them is at www.insuremytrip.com

Read all the fine print.

Travelnut gave you a good link. I used it and bought Travelex for a 10 day trip at $129.00 (5 people) to Belize. It had an A+ rating. On the last day, I was feeling it was lame. We got 650.00 worth of stuff stolen by airline staff on a commuter plane that day. I am so glad we did it!

Hi pixie, are you looking for just medical insurance when you are travelling? You don't have to buy a lot of frills if you don't want to. Also AMEX offers a medical insurance plan that I believe is good for the year with an annual premium. It covers trips of 31 days duration and as I understand it you do not have to have an AMEX card to purchase the medical insurance.
