If you're seeing €51 for 2nd class, then that's the fare you'll pay at the train station.

The price will be the same if you wait and purchase in Italy from Trenitalia. You can use the ticket machines in the train station or stop in one of the many tourist agengies that sell them. You can also purchase at the airport if you are buying tickets to train into Rome.

Hi N,

There are no discounts on this route. The price will be the same.

>the credit card does not go through.

Have you told your CC company that you will be buying a ticket from Trenitalia.

Often, the problem is the CC computer flagging "unusual activity".

Please Help! Isn't there a train station, or a train that goes to Venice? (Near Tronchetto)
When I read the Trenitaly schedule and it says Venise Mestre, can you take a train from Venice, near Tronchetto to Venise Mestre?
Thanks

To Traveler2: the train station in Venice is Venezia Santa Lucia. Venice Mestre is outside the lagune, if your train stops there you can take another one to Venezia S.L. (every 1/2 hour). Tronchetto is the big car parking situated at the beginning of the lagune. The "vaporetto", pubblic transportation by boat, takes you from Tronchetto to Venezia S.L. Water taxis are also available but expensive.

I had problems booking my trains from Rome to Florence then Florence to Venice. First problem was I didn't notify the credit card company, but even after I did I was still couldn't book through them. I waited a few days and was able to book everything with no problems whatsoever. My credit card was expiring in March 2007 and maybe that was my problem the first time. When I tried the second I gave them information with my new credit card expiration date. Just wait a day or so and try again. Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks all,
Just returned from Venice & Rome. Booked the train at Roma Termini at counters 1 day ahead. Did not get the train times I wanted though, it was all booked. Pricing was same as online.
