Travelling with toddler
How do you entertain the child? We are flying semi direct from JFK to Jakarta with an hour layover in Frankfurt and 3 hours in Singapore. Singapore to Jakarta is only 1.5 hours, no biggie there, but what about the 9 hrs the first lag and then the 13?
SQ has some entertainment but we're very nervous about this part of the trip.
Also, are the stops along the Romantische Strasse stroller (or buggy) friendly?
I posted earlier, but it got buried in the general forum:

I have to base for the stay from Sept 12-19. Want to know if I should add more.
Thanks!

I am confused: Do you only have 1 hour layover on Frankfurt and want to visit the Romantische Strasse ? Forget it.
Now as to other question re stroller: the Romantische Strasse is an ordinary highway, connecting several attractive old cities - - e.g. Wertheim, Bad Mergentheim, Weikersheim, Creglingen, Rothenburg, Dinkelsbuehl, etc. It starts in Wertheim, about 100km from the Frankfurt airport.
As most old cities in Germany, many of of the streets and sidewalks are of cobblestone, but you will also find smooth sidewalks, narrow sidewalks and wide sidewalks. They tend to be crowded during the tourist season.

I am flying the 23rd or Aug. from Kansas City, MO to Jakarta. There will be the switch from domestic to Intl' in JFK then the 9 or whatever hours from JFK to Frankfurt. In Frankfurt there's an hour layover and it's off to Singapore. In Singapore I requested a 3.5 hr layover so that we can shower and freshen up a bit. Then it's 1.5 hrs to Jakarta.
The 10th of Sept, we're leaving Jakarta and stay in Singapore for two nights. Off to Frankfurt and we'll be there the 12th at 20:30. We will be in Germany till our flight leaves at 8:30 the 19th.
Our daugther is three. She loves to walk but of course it's short lived. Without the stroller we'd be taking turns carrying her.
Is mid Sept still pretty crowded? What's the weather usually like?

We were in Bali last November with our 3 year old.
The rains hadn't come yet, and it was HOT and humid. Even the locals were complaining about how hot it was.
That's a hard long haul flight. We brought a laptop to play dvd's. Also, I brought a new toy for every hour of travel. I didn't gift wrap them but people have mentioned that. She loved the movies so much, we had toys left over for the flight home.
For the layovers, I just tried to get her to run around.
The hard part is how tired you will be, not how bored the kid will be. Hopefully you are traveling with another adult? That's really the key--being able to take turns entertaining the kid.
Personally, we used to get over jet lag quickly, but with the kid, it takes us a week to 10 days. Keep that in mind when contemplating how long your stay should be.
I don't know Jakarta, but we didn't use the stroller in Bali. The sidewalks, if there were any, were too broken up. My husband carried our daughter on his shoulders a lot. There are those smaller all terrain(3 wheeled) strollers. Those may work.

I usually bring wrapped toys, some new, some toys he has not played with in months so its "new" again. We also have a video player for an ipod (the size of a portable dvd player). I also let him walk around the plane to stretch his legs (and mine).
Good luck!
Good luck!
