travelling turkey
I have found the postings on Turkey helpful but I have one question.
We are flying from Ankara (after Cappedochia) to Izmir. From there we will be driving either to Kusadasi or Sirince fro two nights so we can see Ephesus. Do you think one night in Kusadasi would be enough then we see ephesus the next day and after that head straight down to Bodrum (where we can gain an extra night)or do we need the two nights in Kusadasi. Does anyone have any strong thoughts about staying in Sirince rather than Kusadasi. After all of that we are driving to Kalkan etc.....
thanks

mooky,
I was in Kusadasi last year for 2 nights. Arrived late afternoon, stayed the night. Next day went to Ephesus and spent that night in Kusadasi and left early the following day. It was a leisurely pace.
Honestly, Kusadasi is a big cruise ship port and the town itself primarily caters to this and the people staying there who are going to Ephesus (like I did). So, in my opinion, there isn't much to see in Kusadasi itself.
I would say that one night in Kusadasi is plenty if you want to continue onto Bodrum after seeing Ephesus.
Enjoy Turkey!

Don't know if you caught my late posting on your other thread before moving on to this one. But we overnighted in Celcuk, which is between Izmir and Kusadasi. Celcuk is the town bordering Ephesus - only a 5 or 10 minute taxi ride (we went one way on a horse & cart). It is a pleasant, quieter town than the other two, with some good B&Bs and guest houses (pansyons, as they call them over there).

One night in Kusadisi should be plenty. And two nights should be plenty in Bodrum, unless you're a big partier or taking a gulet cruise from there. In case you can't guess, not my favorite part of Turkey by a long shot. We were very disappointed with that portion of our trip ( except for the amazing Ephesus!) in July.

We stayed at the Homeros Pansyon in Celcuk, run by Zefir and his sister. A basic but OK place, with a pleasant rooftop garden where we sat talking and drinking wine with the proprietors until late in the evening.
Dinner earlier was a beautiful Turkish salad and meats in a downtown pedestrianised shopping area.
