We are traveling to Italy this summer and plan to jump around the major cities like Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples/Capri.

We are working through a travel agent who has suggested we use Ciao Italy Tours. They will be picking us up and taking us to and from airports and train stations.

Has anyone used Ciao Italy Tours?

Do you think it is necessary to get escorted drivers especially if this is our first trip to Italy and we do not speak Italian? Would we be okay just getting cabs or taxis to take us to the train stations?

Any thoughts or recommendations are welcomed!!!!

You do not need this service. It is super easy to get around Italy. Taxis are fine. Sometimes you are so near a station you can walk. Sometimes a train is better than a car. In Venice, you will use a boat of some kind.
How many days on the ground is your trip?

Save your money and do some homework---this Forum is a good place to start. Your TA gets paid when you book a tour. You can do it yourself for 30% less than a tour, but it does take some time and involvement.

English is very widely spoken in Italy - esp anyone in the tourist industry. Having someone organize transfers for you - unless you are handicapped in some way - is simply a large waste of money. Taxis are cheap in Italy (except water taxi in Venice - and you can do Vaporetto instead) and easy to find.

Yes or you might be able to walk (the train station in Florence is within walking distance of many hotels in the historic center).

Your bigger need for transport will be from the airport into the city, but you didn't say which airports you are using. For some, such as Rome, you can hop the train or book a limo (as cheap as a taxi) to get from the airport into the city.
