Traveling from Vienna to Portugal (Algarve) by car

What is the fastest and cheapest route to travel from Vienna to
Portugal ( Algarve ) one way trip? I would also like to include "motorail" as an option to shorten driving distances. Anyone has done this? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

viamichelin.com will give you several options. That may be the best way to plan your trip.

That's one long drive, more than 3000 kms. How much time to you have?

Although long (3000 km), this can be a very interesting trip if you allow some time to sightsee along the road (Venice, Genoa, Nîmes, Barcelona, Valencia, Córdoba, Seville, ...). I love roadtrips like these.

Run Google maps for this route.
The gas and tolls will be significant.

Better check www.viamichelin.com which gives automatically cost of tolls and gas.
FYI Vienna - Faro, total 513.91 € (tollroads 167.45 € | petrol 338.16 € | toll vignette 8.30 €)

If you are looking for an option that incurs the least possible (self-) driving, you could drive to Frankfurt first, and take the car train to Narbonne (French/Spanish border on the Med).
www.autozug.de
Though it may not necessarily be much cheaper.
