Hi,
My family and I travelled from Italy to Greece this summer. There are lots of options.
You can leave for Greece from Venice, Trieste, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi.
Brindisi is the shortest and cheapest crossing, but I haven't heard a good report on Brindisi itself.
We went from Bari (an interesting, medieval town if you end up there with time to spare) and took the Superfast Ferry to Igoumenitsa. Igoumenitsa is on the mainland but it is very easy to connect with ferries to the islands. We went on to Corfu - there are ferries from Igoumenitsa about every 45 minutes.
Superfast was very good. I have also heard good reports re. Minoan Ferries from Venice.
As well as ferries to Corfu and Igoumenitsa, there are also ferries to Patras.
There is a lot of info. on the internet, just search for Greek ferries.
Carolina

Try www.europebyair.com. This site offers $99.00 one way flight passes and advance reservations are not required. I have recently purchased one.
