Traveling alone from Tropea to Naples
I am contemplating staying overnight in Tropea and then I would like to get to Naples at a reasonable hour the next day, early evening at the latest. I think a private driver would be my best option. Does anyone have any recommendations for a driver or other suggestions besides renting a car? TIA.

Thats almost 500km in distance from Tropea to Naples, I would recommend the train which requires one change in Rosarno or Lamezia Terme. Look at both Trenitalia and Italo who ply this route.
fyi, we were in Tropea few weeks ago and used trains to get to Naples, though we broke journey en route in Maratea and Amalfi. The trains run along the coast offering beautiful views, the E45 is further inland.

Tropea to Naples
Thanks Bilboburgler. You are right, Rome2rio is a bit lacking. It seemed to show if I didn't catch a train at the crack of dawn, I'd be arriving at 11pm in Naples - out of the question. I will have to go to the horse's mouth, eh? So I assume Tropea is worth the effort?

Tropea is stunningly beautiful. After crossing over from Sicily, we worked our way slowly upto Naples - 1N Scilla, 2N Tropea, 1N Maratea, 2N Amalfi before hitting Naples so were able to soak it all in. 1N in Tropea (unless you are already in the vicinity) will be rushed, and possibly exhausting with the long travel that follows. But I dont know if you will have the opportunity to visit Tropea again, so it boils down to a personal decision.
To be clear about trains, the connection to Lamezia Terme or Rosarno will be a regionale on Trenitalia. The onward to Napoli offers s choice between a high speed Trenitalia or Italo. And yes you will need to leave early to make that connection work.

Messina to Tropea / Lamezia Terme to Naples
I know, I did the same. Very good. My original post was made last October or something. I came back here to thank the person who assured me the train was the perfect option. My only challenge was connecting to a ferry/train that got me there at a reasonable hour that wasn't leaving Taormina at the crack of dawn, so I hired a private car to the Port of Messina. I had less than 24 hours in Tropea, so it was worth every penny!

Can you recommend any nice beach towns on the southwestern coast of Italy between Naples and Tropea?
