Travel to Vienna
Hi,
I'd like to fly from NY to Vienna, Austria for the dates of October 19 to October 23rd, 2008. I'm a student, and would like to travel at an inexpensive rate/price if possible. I'm also not sure where I would be able to obtain good (but inexpensive) accommodations. Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Morris

By all means get a copy of Let's Go Austria & Switzerland - written and researched by college students and will be invaluable to you
Libaries often carry them and any major bookstore.
esp good on listing zillions of inexpensive accommodations and student/youth hangouts

I'm pretty sure you can go through STA or another student travel company. Check out www.statravel.com to start though. When I travelled abroad in school, I booked my airfare through them (I believe)... enjoy your trip! Vienna is awesome.

Thanks for all the comments. I just purchased a copy of Let's Go. I will go through it tonight. Will also check Air Austria and STA.
A friend mentioned to me that it might be cheaper to travel into a more popular city in Europe, and then take the train into Vienna.
Any idea as to if this is a valid option?

With only 4 days in Vienna, I would try to fly direct.
Vienna is not a cheap city to fly into though. Since it is going to cost you, can't you spend more time there?
Go to travelocity and punch in your dates for travel. It will give you an idea of how much the tickets are on different airlines. Kayak.com will tell you the best fares also.
Look at a map and check the cities around Vienna to see if you can fly cheaper into one of them.
Good luck.
Oh and as far as accomdations look into pension hotels. They tend to be less expensive.
