4 direct trains a day take about three hours

www.renfe.es - Spanish railways for schedules and pricing

buses may be cheaper and go a more direct route and more frequent

but are you going by public transport or driving?

Rent a car (one-way). It's between 2.5 and 3 hours on highways. Depending on the number of passengers and the type of vehicle, it is also the cheapest.

Agsain, it depends on the number of people in the group. A bus ticket would be around 20E per person. Also, car rental rates vary widely. With 3, 4, or 5 people it's worth looking into and doing some research at least.

skedoo,
I prefer to take the 3 hr. bus rather than the train because there are more daily departures, 8 or so per day. A one way ticket costs 18.07. Bus co. is Alsina Graells, a division of Alsa.

See the schedule at www.alsa.es

(choose Sevilla-est. Prado as your origen)

Hi Maribel

Is this bus non-stop? I will be in Spain for 3 weeks in April and I will be taking this same trip. Also, I am really enjoying your guides. So much great information. Thank you.

roadlesstraveled,
Thanks for the compliment-I'm glad you like them.

Of the 8 daily bus departures from Seville to Granada, 7 are non-stop. One makes a stop in Antequera on route.

If for whatever reason you didn't want to take a bus, it seems like on certain days there aren't any trains going from Sevilla to Granada, like past March 15th for instance. Does anyone know why this is?

It's not that there aren't any trains on those days. Renfe simply hasn't loaded the tickets for trains past a certain date into the system yet.

Using the Renfe ticket purchasing system requires a great deal of patience!

skedoo- I did the other way around last week, from Granada to Seville. The bus trip takes about 3 hours (or less). It is nonstop. I took the bus instead of the train because the bus runs more frequently, and I believe a tad less expensive.

You can buy the bus ticket ahead of time and print out the ticket before your trip. The website is very easy to use (more user friendly than renfeīs website). Itīs posted by Maribel already.

The granada bus station is some ways outside of the city. You can either take a taxi or you can take Bus 3 or 33 which will take you to city center. It took about 30 minutes during rush hour last week.
