Travel from Edinburgh to Glasgow.

We will be flying into Edinburgh with final desitination in Glasgow. First, what is the distance and how would we get from Edinburgh Airport to Waverly Station? Is it walking distance? Second, Is there a train that travels to Glasgow from Waverly Bridge?

The airport is some distance from Waverley Station; there are inexpensive direct express buses. There are trains from Waverley to Glasgow several times an hour weekdays.

Thanks John. That will help greatly. Would you have any idea as to the cost of the train fare from Edinburgh to Glasgow?

As John says, there is an express bus which runs from the airport to Waverley Station. It costs about 4 pounds - still much cheaper than a taxi, and relatively quick too.

There are trains every 15 minutes during the day between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It's been a while since I was on one so I don't know the fare, but you could try the Scotrail website - www.scotrail.co.uk - for info.

Special offer being advertised on the train just now - I went Edinburgh-Glasgow return for £7.50 yesterday! Not sure how long that lasts, though - I think the normal off-peak fare is around £12, but I may well be wrong (it has been known! !)
