Hello, I truly appreciate travelers taking the time to help me with our upcoming trip. And I have made some amendments, and a new addition to the trip. Read on to find out!
panecott It is good to know we have a great place to stay in Lake Bled, Pension Mayer! We found it in Rick Steve's guidebook.
travelnerd Again, was reading RS guidebook which indicated if we are staying in the park, we actually can buy an entrance ticket for 1 day and it is actually good for two days! So, we are planning on doing lower and upper on separate days. And I found out you have one hour grace from your timed entrance so if we run into traffic....
So, some changes, realizing that less is more and I do enjoy the freedom to linger or move on.

Our drive from Ljubljana to Rovinj, we have cut out the Trieste, Italy visit, and will see how the timing works for the Istrian towns...but we will stop for lunch in Piran...then onto Rovinj.
No Hvar! Added an extra night to Korcula and one to Dubrovnik.
This is because my son and family is joining us on Korcula! Great news!
However, I am now looking for suggestions for activities with a 7, 4 and 18 month old! Oh, my! I hear people say beach, right? So, perhaps a short boat tour of the beautiful archipelagos around Korcula. Any suggestions for tour operators? And other ideas for being with kids? And, am I thinking correctly, that we should rent a large van to get "around" the island? Suggestions for kid friendly restaurants would also be appreciated.
Comments and TIA.

I think this will work out better. Korcula is nice, but I didn’t have kids with me, so no help.

I do not have kids and have not really traveled with any (unless you count chaperoning my nephew's 8th grade trip to DC), so not really a big help here.

Korcula is really rather a sleepy island and does not necessarily have a whole lot "to do" per se, or at least things I can think of for kids, really. You could go to one of the beaches, there is a sand beach on one of the nearby islands (will have to look up my notes which one it was) and you can take the little local ferries around those islands. There is the Moreska performance which is a local tradition with sword fights and choreographed dancing. It has a script to it that is only in Croatian, so the kids might struggle with that (they do have translationsin other languages available). I think they only perform it on select nights of the week, so that is something to look into.

But, im sort of tapped out on thoughts here.

We are in our mid 60’s, travel quite a bit, and prefer ‘off the beaten track’. Leaving BC, Canada on Sept 24, we fly to Amsterdam for 3 nights then on to Dubrovnik for 2. Gary is and avid cyclist and will go on an 8 hour ride into B&H on Sept 29, I will do a walking tour of D. Then we rent a car and stay in Kotor for 2 nights, where he goes on another cycle trip, I do a kayaking tour, and on 1st we both have a paragliding event booked over the Bay of Kotor! No, we have not paraglided before but it is something that I have wanted to do for decades!
We are not fans of ‘cast in stone’ itineraries, so from October 2nd-14th we are free to move at will. Things on the For Sure list is Zadar sea organ, Plitvice, Split and Blue caves, Motovun truffle hunting, Istria region
Then in Slovenia is Vrsic Pass, Lake Bled, Vinta Gorge, Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle.
Isn’t Fodor’s forum the best place for information and opinions and to get one even more excited to explore and travel???
Cannot wait to hear of your trip!

We have a similar itinerary and will be there in mid Sept this year. Our first trip to Croatia was in 2017 where we visited
Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split and Hvar by a private tour so we didn’t drive. We love Croatia so we are going back to see new places like Istria, and Lake Plitvace, and again Split and Hvar. Sorry to see you won’t be going to Hvar. It is one of the most beautiful islands we have been to and we travel a lot. The beaches are rocky but the water is so clear. There is a sandy beach on the other side that was a favorite for families as it had shallow waters. We did spend three nights in Dubrovnik inside the old town with a day trip to Montenegro. It was very crowded in the afternoons with tourists coming from cruise ships and buses. It is a beautiful place and fun if you are fans of “Game of Thorns”. The mayor was on a mission to reduce the crowds when we were there so maybe it’s not so crowded. Have a wonderful time,

Just a note to those traveling to Slovenia in the next few weeks, there is a disaster currently going on there, with a tremendous amount of damage due to storms. A lot of roads and bridges destroyed. When the rain stops they will begin to clean up, but the road and bridge situation could affect road travel for some months.

PortobelloB - ‘Sorry to see you won’t be going to Hvar. It is one of the most beautiful islands we have been to and we travel a lot.’ We have Hvar as a possibility, time permitting. I do wish we had at lest another 3 days, but if we did, I would just wish for 3 more, ha ha. We are just able to see and do what we can fit into the time we have. Thankyou for your post. Yes, I have read that Dubrovnik mayor is trying to reduce the number of cruise ships coming in. Hope by October the crowds have thinned out from summer months

Rialtogrl - Oh no! That is terrible. The weather in the whole planet is causing a lot of grief for many countries, isn’t it? Thank you for the heads up on possible travel interruption, we may have detours to watch out for

Gypsy8 your plans sound great, I’m not that adventurous that I can “free spirit “ like your itinerary shows, hence your handle Gypsy…
portobelloB we were sad to give up Hvar and moved the days to Korcula, but it meant more time with my son and Grandkids! (They are living in Spain), so it was important….
rialtogrl YES! I am very concerned about all the flooding….first, for the people in Slovenia. Floods are very destructive and many months of repairs are in the future for them.

So now, I really need to rethink our plans…..please give thoughts 💭, our trip is in 23 days…..options are:
Skip Bled, as there is so much destruction up there….keep flight into Ljubljana as planned, ( hard to move flights). Hopefully moving our reservation earlier in Ljubljana , stay 2 nights, change car reservation to one day earlier, drive to Piran, ( if I can find accommodation) then continue on to Rovinj and rest of trip as planned…comments?
Or go to Lake Bled as planned? Not leaning that way…but need to hear other travelers thoughts… TIA

I don’t think you need to skip Bled. Unless the weather gets bad again. It is places that bridges and roads are being repaired that will affect travelers, Bled is not one of them.
