transportation from Lisbon airport to Lagos

Looking for recommendations for transportation from the Lisbon airport to our Lagos hotel. I had planned on taking the train, which looks to be about a 4-hour trip. From the information I've found online, the trains aren't running at the time we'd be hoping to leave; there are trains in the morning and then not again until after 2pm. Now I'm considering a private transfer service to save some time. If anyone has recommendations on a specific transfer service I'd appreciate those also. Or is the train worth the savings in price? (I have no idea how much a private transfer costs.) Thanks so much!

The quote from Lisbon Airport to Lagos from this company for 2 people- 328 euros

The train fares from Lisbon to Lagos, with the required train change, are considerably cheaper. Rail travel in Portugal is quite inexpensive, especially if you purchase your tickets in advance for the great discounts or the 50% senior fares (65+).

This is the schedule for the trains from Lisboa-Oriente (the closest rail station to the airport) to Lagos, with train change-

Thank you Maribel. It looks like the train is the most economic option although there aren't a lot of train times in the middle of the day. Would you know how long we should allow between landing at the Lisbon airport (from the US so need to go through customs) and the train time? Our flight arrives at 8:00 am and I've been seeing a lot of reports of it taking several hours to get through customs...that's difficult to predict at any airport. I'm wondering if it's safer to not book the train in advance, but I don't want to risk it being sold out either.

I wish I had a crystal ball and could tell you how long it will take to get through customs at LIS. Everyone seems to have a different story to tell these days about LIS on the travel forums. I arrived from Madrid so didn't go through customs/immigration. It depends on how many flights arrive around the same time as yours, how many police are manning their booths in immigration at that time, and other factors.

I don't know when you're traveling to Lagos (this summer?). You can check www.cp.pt today for tomorrow's trains and see if any have sold out. If you do decide to book at the last minute, the train fare will still be far less expensive than the private transfer. You can either taxi, uber or take the metro (3rd stop-red line) to the Lisboa-Oriente station to catch the train to Lagos. The distance is only 4 km.
