We will be spending our 5th wedding anniversary in Portugal. (We originally had award tickets booked to Amsterdam and Florence but just changed them to Portugal.)

I have been once, as a backpacker, and visited Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Lagos and Sagres. Tim has never been.

With 5 nights, can we visit Sintra and Lagos and spend one night in Lisbon?

We arrive at noon on a Wednesday and depart at 9am on Monday.

I was thinking we could do:

A:
Transfer to Sintra on Wednesday from airport, stay overnight.
Train to Lagos on Thursday and stay until Saturday night or Sunday Morning.
Spend one or two nights in Lisbon.
Fly out Monday.

or

B:
Spend first night in Lisbon
Train to Lagos on Thursday
Train back to Lisbon on Saturday or Sunday (and do trip to Sintra if time)
Fly out Monday.

I know we won't see much of Lisbon, but while we're very likely to return to Portugal, it may not be in summer, so I'd like to head down to the Algarve.

Any thoughts?

With so little time I would stay closer to Lisbon the entire trip and include Evora to your list. Frankly, I would get a car as you land and stay in Cascais or Sintra as your base for Lisbon, Sintra, and Obidos. Then some time in Evora. Save the Algarve for when you have more time.

You can get one for 4 nights accomodations and 5 days of car rental.I don't think I caught what month you were going. We are going in September-Chris
