Looking for suggestions on travelling from Heathrow to Weymouth (or near Weymouth) via rail or coach in April.

Will be flying into Heathrow but then planning to spend several days with family living in Weymouth before leaving on a cruise out of Southampton. I'd rather not rent a car but can't easily see the best option for getting from Heathrow to somewhere near Weymouth. If possible, we could travel to Salisbury or Southampton and then family could meet us there.

Any suggestions / guidance would be appreciated.

Welcome to Fodors. Easy if your family can drive to pick you up -- there is a direct, express coach from LHR to Bournemouth, Takes about 2 hours. Will you have a 'boatload' of luggage like many cruisers?

No - we'll be travelling light and only have 2 pieces of carry-on luggage.
