Trains: Rome to Florence Orivieto to Rome

I am planning to fly into Rome and take the train to Florence. After Florence and Siena, we will drive to Orvieto and take the train to Rome. I was originally going to buy the train tickets ahead of time, but according to past posts, it would not be a problem to buy them when we get there. The posts were over a year old, so was just checking if anyone knows that it still holds true and we should buy the tickets at the station. Also, do they take charge cards?
Thank you

The information is still valid today. You can pay for tickets with cash, credit or debit cards at most manned rail station ticket counters, as well as at the automated ticket machines which sell tickets for the long-distance trains. To save money, take the regionale train between Orvieto and Rome instead of the more expensive IC train.

There is only 15 minutes difference in travel time between the cheaper R train and the IC train on this route. You'll save 6€ per ticket taking the R trains.

Yes, just go to the station and buy a train and your cc will work fine.
