Trains not available on Sunday

I'm getting nervous about our Holiday plans. While trying to dig for the status on availability of the Sleeper to Edinburgh for August 31, A SUNDAY, I found a site that led me to believe that Euston Station won't be in service then. Scotrail told me to wait for the schedule to be posted for available reservations. They told me next Saturday twice.
Well I also found information that leads me to believe that the Circle Line and Baker Street and Euston Stations and a few others won't be in operation.
Can someone who is over there advise me on whether we would be able to go North towards Edinburgh on Sunday the 31st. I was thinking of Berwick or Newcastle since I couldn't find any accomodations in Edinburgh when I searched thouroughly last month. We need to be in Edinburgh on Monday in order to pick up our tickets for the rest of our trip(I knew I should have had them sent).
I'm still hoping for news that the Sleeper will run but it doesn't look too good when I keep digging up sites that prove otherwise.
I'm hoping that we can at least get closer to Edinburgh on Sunday so that we can get on to Stirling early Monday.
I'm hope to find Berwick or Newcastle interesting.
Thanks for any and all input.
Emily

If Euston is closed, the sleeper might start from another station. The sleepers are run by Scotrail, so keep checking with them. If you decide to go by day, then consider Newcastle or Berwick, or Glasgow which has frequent trains to Edinburgh.

Hi ...

Have you thought about flying to Edinburgh ... catching the early flight with easyjet costs £6 one way !! A later flight would be £21. Taxes are about £11 per person.

As to hotel ... well there are loads ... B&B, hotels etc ... the easyjet website has some central in Edingburgh for £90 for a twin room with breakfast. (www.easyjet.co.uk). I'm sure you could find cheaper ... check out sites like expedia

Easyjet also do flights from Stansted & Gatwick. Flights start at 6AM, right through to 11PM

I suppose it really depends on how much you want to spend etc.

If you want more help, post back here & I will attempt to answer your questions.

Hmm. It sounds like a Bank Holiday issue more than a Sunday issue. You might try driving or flying.

Thanks for the help, good people. Easyjet is coming up with 42.50bps for one way on 31 August, Aauugghh!
I guess I'll keep checking Scotrail until Monday and maybe consider booking Easyjet and looking for a room in Edinburgh...again. I just hate to spend Sunday in transit all day.
All the Apex Fares are taken for the GNER. I'll still consider the train to Berwick though because I've heard the scenery is lovely North of York.
I would hate to be a travel agent and have to tell someone they can't shape their travels JUST the way they want.
If anyone would like to share their opinion about which option they would go for I'd love to hear it.
Thanks so much,
Emily

Hi ....

Remember that the way Easyjet operate is that the cheaper tickets go on sale 1st. The longer you leave it the more expensive it will be !!

Why do you need to be in transit all day ... catch a flight about 10PM .... stay in London all day (leave luggage at hotel staying on Saturday night) get train/taxi to Luton about 6PM ....

By the way it is NOt a bank holiday that weekend ... weekend before !!

Thank you all for your helpful replies to my worries and whinings. I just booked our Berths on the Sleeper. I'm so happy because that this will allow us 2.5 days in London. I've been there several times but it is my sister's first so I am trying harder to plan the best use of our time.
Thanks again,
Emily
