Train travel between Prague and Krakow. Need an advise.
Next November we want to visit Prague and Krakow.
Any advise about the best practical way to go by train between the 2 cities ( Prague to Krakow or viseversa) will be most welcome. Best schedules, travel times, etc.
Thanks in advance!

SCHEDULES: www.bahn.de - German Rail site good for schedules for all of Europe - very easy to use. Click on Int'l guests at top, then on Travel Service on left.

Hi Orionve,
I did this trip in July this year but stopped off half way at Olomouc.
The problem as I saw it was either a very long day trip (about 8 hours if I remember correctly) or a night train which got into Krakow at 05.30am.
The stop in Olomouc meant that I arrived there around lunch time and had that day to explore a lovely town which was very very cheap! The next day I took the train to Krakow (4 hours) with one change (which wasn't difficult) and arrived in Krakow about 3pm.

I did the same in August cambe (except in the other direction) and loved Olomouc!
The German rail site will give all the options available.
We bought 1st class tickets and enjoyed the ride. Caution though not all trains from Prague to Krakow have 1st class wagons; we changed Ostrava and there was no 1st class comparment and the train was packed.
My trip report has more info on Olomouc if you are interested...

I did a 2nd class couchette overnight from Krakow (d. 22h14) to Prague (a. 07h00). It's an old train but very comfortable. Passport check at about midnight in Zebrzydowice. Conductor keeps your ticket.
The Prague train station is full of panhandlers and scammers. There are a couple of ATMs in the station but you'll have to look for them.
