Train travel and cost from Brig to Zermatt

We've decoded the several web sites, forums, train schedules, and what not and think we know how to get from Malpensa airport (hotel location) to Gallarate via bus and then Brig via train. It seems the fare is around $45 US for the train.

What we cannot figure out is which train takes us to Zermatt. We read about the "little red train", but unfortunately it's not listed that way on the Swiss Rail site (sbb.ch).

Can someone direct us? We're just trying to get an idea of schedules and cost. We're not traveling until September.

Is your itinerary Malpensa/Zermatt all in one day?

The fare from Gallarate will be 32.10€. If you have any type of Swiss pass you can qualify for a discount so the ticket could be as cheap as 12€. You can also get a ticket for Milan Centrale to Brig for the Smart Fare of 19€, but is probably not convenient for you if you are overnighting at the airport.

The fare from Brig to Zermatt is 36chf (for the train that doesn't require connections). If you have the Swiss Half Fare card it will be 18chf.

@bilboburgler, I'll change out that site. Thank you.

@kappa1, I'm having a very difficult time navigating that site. Too many choices come up!
There are so many "via" options, I don't know which to choose since I'm not familiar with the area.

@kybourbon, Yes, all in one day. My husband has always dreamed of skiing at Zermatt. We plan to take the bus from MXP to Gallarate, then hope the train to Brig and on to Zermatt.
We'll stay at Zermatt 3 nights, then return to MXP via Lugano.

Advice on logistics would be most appreciated.
I have 9 tabs open in my browser and I'm very lost!
