I also checked Ryan air and found a flight from Rome (CIA) to Venice (TSF Trenso) for 156 Euros round trip for 2 people. This seems awful cheap....is it better to fly or train? Never heard of CIA or TSF...is this legit and would you recomend

Of course it is legit But I wouldn't recommend it to you, because I think you probably will have much more luggage to check in than they allow, which is just 15 kg per person.
Also Treviso is not Venice, you would have to pay for transport there. Ciampino is a Rome airport, it nearer to Rome than Fiumicino. No problem about that But I think will be easier for you and not very much more expensive the train from the center of Venice right to the center of Rome.

If you aren't starting in the center of Rome and you don't want to end up in the center of Venice, then maybe -- just maybe -- the flight would be a good option. But with checkin times, transportation to and from airports, and the luggage issue, I think the train remains a much better option.

Hi D,

Train is 51E and 74E pp, 2cl and 1 cl respectively.

Flying will not save you time, money or effort.
