train to rome
I'm arriving in Naples and getting a train to Rome. Do you know which train station I need to get to and how often the trains run from Naples to Rome. Also, which train line I should take as well as how long the ride is.

Many Thanks.

Soy,

You can leave from almost any station in Naples. I would imagine you will be closest to the Central station when you arrive. The trains run all the time from there. You will need a reservation, so when you arrive go to the station and buy a ticket for the next train going to Rome. It is as simple as that. Have a good trip.

Greg
The reference library of a city near you may have the Thomas cook European Timetablwe. Table 620 shows that Eurostar restaurant trains leave Napoli Centrale at 0628 (not Sunday), 0730, 0930, 1130 (not Sunday), 1330, and so on and take an hour and 46 minutes to Rome. InterCity buffet car trains leave the same station at 0736, 0836, and hourly and take 2 hours to Rome.

All trains run through Formia.

Ben Haines, London
soy: Also the Centrale Train Station and the Piazza Garibaldi Train Station are in the same location just on different levels. Garibaldi is actually under the piazza in front of the train station. Centrale is the big main station and Garibaldi is just a 3 track underground metro stop with 1 track for regular trains. The odds are you will leave from the Centrale Station but if you see that the next train is leaving from "PG2" that will be Piazza Galibaldi Track 2. It's all signposted of course
, but the stairs to Garbaldi are in front of Track 13 near the front doors. Regards, Walter

Don't forget to add the half hour where the train sits just outside town, waiting on the track.

(Just kidding, that was the Rome to Naples trip).

Give yourself half an hour to line up for a ticket in Naples if you don't already have the ticket in hand.
We actually waited 45 minutes for our Kilometric to be stamped. The crowd was getting pretty unruly toward some country boys who didn't seem to understand it when the ticket guys said "no". They wanted to go back and argue about their tickets with each booth in turn.
