Train station lockers? storage?

Is it still possible to check luggage for a few hours at a time at train stations in Italy? I'm considering doing it in Orvieto and/or Ostica Antica -- while I do my site seeing and before I hop back on the train for my final destination.
Thanks!

This worked well for us in Naples. We were coming from Rome to Sorrento and we really wanted to see the Archeological Museum for a few hours. Have a great trip!

Alice,
Shortly after 9/11, the luggage storage at Roma Termini was closed for security reasons. I'd imagine future security threats could possibly have an impact on whether storage rooms or lockers are open or closed.

*Self-Service* luggage lockers were closed post 9-11. I saw them still closed in mid-March (Rome & Naples) and a couple of posters here said they were still closed at the Pisa train station in late June.
*Manned* luggage storage areas are open though.
Kate: The Ostia Antica station on the commuter line from Rome to Lido di Ostia? I could be mistaken but on 2 trips there I've never noticed luggage lockers or storage in the small station. Or do you mean leaving it at Rome Termini and then going to Ostia Antica?
Regards, Walter
Nutella:

Italy has had a just too long history of fascist bombs in railway stations and on trains to be worried by September 11th. The mesures taken were a plain attempt at stimulating fears by the government.

Thank you all for your insight -- especially Walter! I had forgotten about the manned storage.
