Train reservations

A friend and I (women in our mid-sixties) will be traveling by train from Salzburg to Venice on October 8 and from Venice to Rome on October 12. Should we get train reservations before we leave the US? Are they cheaper online? Or can we get reservations at the train station a few days before we want to travel?

You can wait to make seat reservations once you arrive in Salzburg, and again in Venice. Your travel dates are no longer peak travel season.

Hi P,

You could probably make res online at http://www.oebb.at/ for Salzburg to Venice.
You can always ask in Salzburg if they will book you from Venice to Rome.

If not, Trenitalia won't accept nonEuropean CCs. You will have to get your tickets when you arrive in Venice.

Enjoy your visit.

Thank you for your help. Based on your responses, we'll wait and get our tickets at the train station when we arrive in each city.

Hi fam,

>Will Trenitalia accept nonEuropean credit cards at the train station? <

Yes.

I should have said that they wouldn't take nonEuropean cards for online ticketing.
