train from nice to montpellier

ok, i've done the searches, and i've read the guidebooks. now i'd like to hear from some people with experience on the nice to montpellier train route...

do i have a chance of making a 4:00 pm train out of nice, if my flight arrives at 3:30 (i'm only carrying-on)? how do i make my way from the airport to the train station (i'm going to montpellier)?

also, does anyone have any general comments about this route? should i book in advance for a monday late afternoon-evening train? connect through marseille or avignon?

thanks, in advance!

I suppose if you already have the tickets and traffic is light(weekday), you can probably make it. I can't remember what traffic was like at 3-4pm in the afternoon, but definitely more during the weekend. The train station is at the north end of the city center, a 10-15 min drive from the airport with light traffic. Took us 30-40 mins in heavy traffic though. Also took train from nice to mont and back, connecting via marseille. Ride wasn't all that scenic, but cheap. I think around $30 one way.

Hi

I'd say ...... book a later train.
Even if the flight arrives on time, it always takes at least 15 mins to get through the airport without luggage.
Add in time queueing for a taxi , some traffic, finding the right platform ?

Peter
