Train from FCO to Termini

Hello,

Wondering the feasibility of taking the train from FCO into downtown Rome station Termini after a flight. I'll have several bags, and a couple of kids. Its not an overnight flight or anything, just coming in from Cork, so we won't be totally bushed or anything.

Is it feasible to drag the luggage on this train? It would save us some €€!

Thanks

-Rob

Yes, by all means take the train from FCO to Termini.

Express trains run every 30min, and the station is right at the airport - just follow the signs as you exit baggage claim.

Itls very feasible and user friendly. We did it Rome to FCO. Two adults one teenager, 3 rolling bags.
We were staying close enough to Termini that we walked from our hotel to the station.

It's feasible if your bags aren't too heavy and if your kids don't need supervision. But you have to pay for train tickets, you'll probably have to pay for a taxi from Termini, and you and your kids aren't going to be in good shape if you're flying from the US. Another possibility is to arrange for a shuttle to pick you up at FCO. Here's the URL for
www.romeshuttlelimousine.com/
and you can find others by searching this forum or the internet. The cost from FCO to your hotel will be 35 Euros plus tip.

Thanks for the info!

Our hotel is Hotel Alpi, which is apparently just across a piazza from Termini, so we were hoping we could just walk. Sounds like the train will do.

Appreciate the help.

Taxi fare is fixed at 40E for FCO-central Rome, only a few more than three train tickets. I'd splurge those extra 5E for the comfort and convenience of a taxi, if for some reason I decided against a shuttle service. Just be sure to get an official cab (SPQR medallion on the side) and confirm the 40E fare before you settle in.

Hi

My wife and I took it a couple of years back....we didn't have a couple of kids but we did have a couple of big suitcases. It is not really a big problem doing this in my opinion.

Here is my Rome trip report with pictures and links: http://gardkarlsen.com/rome_italy.htm . I hope that you can also find some useful information there.

Regards
Gard
