Train From Budapest to Prague
Hi guys
I will be in Budapest in March 2006 spending 4 days and planning to take the train to Prague. Does anyone know which station this train leaves from, how much it costs? Would you recommend stopping for a few hours in Bratislava? Is it even possible to hop on and off the train like that? I suspect I'll need 2 separate tickets to get to Prague this way.

It is around 17.000 forints. Ask for a seat reservation, because the train will be full in the Czech Republic. You will get a ticket for the hungarian part, and one for the non- hungarian. Sometimes it is cheaper, if you buy an EURODOMINO for the czech part, this means, you can use this ticket for 3 days there, and you do not need an extra ticket. You can buy this kind of ticket for every european country.

Yes Bratislava is well worth a few-hour stop (well much more but you only have a few hours) - very nice Danube city sprucing itself up rapidly since dreary Commie days. Probably baggage storage in train station but not sure - could be a hassle if not.
