Train for a daytrip with Kids from Paris

We are in Paris for 7 days. We would like to visit any area outside of France. We do not want to do disneyland. The kids are 5yrs & 7yrs. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Hi New,

>We would like to visit any area outside of France.<

Bruges.

Check www.sncf.com. If you book 60 days in advance you can get greatly reduced PREMS fares.

Even later than 60 days you can get good rates.

Do you mean outside France - or outside Paris?

If the former I would agree with Brugge.

If the latter I wold think the kids would like one or more of the chateaux - probably the more fortress like ones - and would probably suggest Amboise. Which also has a cute town, riverside restaurants and Leonardo's house to explore.

Try the Parc Astérix, north of Paris, a very French amusement park.

France Miniature to the west is very interesting: a park in the form of a giant map of France with outdoor scale models of all the major sites from around the country (in 1/30 scale), plus an indoor building with extraordinarily detailed scale dioramas.

Sorry, but when I see a post like yours, and they appear here often, I am always prompted to ask the same question, "Have you asked your kids what THEY want to do?"

thanks for the last bit of information - our children are 5yrs & 7yrs whilst we have every intention of amusing the children is it really their decision and hey are they the experts on Paris - no I don't think so - this is why I have posted a message on Fodors for potentially useful information rather negativity!!

I think that if you go by what your kids really want, you'll find that they are more interested in going to Disneyland Paris than anywhere else, and with good reason. For kids in that age group, no other place is as much fun (although a place like Parc Asterix might come close).
