>>This aussie had about 100 people doing the Charleston and now they are jitterbugging/swinging . . . .<<

He brought them along - from his swing dance school.

I'd want 100 of my closest friends there if I were plinthed.

BKP - you are exactly right. I like to see how the one is ending and then what the next person is about. Five minutes into a new one, I must turn away, I must turn away or the entire next hour is shot.

Yes - I knew they were members of the group. But it still was fun. Not "art" of course -- but catchy music and lots of energy.

Cute Scot redhead with a bullhorn up there now. I'm at work and can't get audio, but I like her concept:
"I asked people to send me confessions, secrets, jokes, quotes, poems or just anything they could think of that they would want me to say on their behalf."

The swing guy(Scottie 800) is great! Love that he brought a bunch of people with him - is it really 100 people? Looks a bit smaller than that. He got a great time also.

Anna1013: the number varied from about 6 or 8 dancers up to 40 or 50 couples depending on which number it was.

The gal up now is sure struttin' her stuff! But I'm not 100% sure I'd be happy up there bopping around in those heels

Pah!:

One & Other

We have now picked the winners of places in August and we are sorry to tell you that you have not been picked on this occasion. 744 individuals from all over the UK have been picked at random from all those who entered, and each has been allocated a place on the plinth during the month.

However, all is not lost! Your name will remain in the draw for places in September and October, and we hope you will be luckier next time. We will also continue to offer places to applicants should anyone drop out and need replacing. So keep an eye on your inbox for future communications from us!

Thank you for taking part in this project. We do hope you have enjoyed the process so far, and will experience it either by visiting Trafalgar Square in person, or virtually via the website.

Don't really get the chicken costume -- but this woman brought a band and some dancers who are teaching Scottish country dancing to brave souls in the square.

She's wearing a rubber chicken as a sporran

The wine lecture is a bit boring (more than a bit actually), but wine tasting in the square would be fun . . . .

Anyone who has couple of minutes, look at the young woman who was on on August 26, starting at 4:00 a.m. She performed old timey music hall songs. Not many others about at that hour, but she was a trooper and it was loads of fun.

Whenever I see a naked person on the plinth, I quickly check Intellicast to see what the temperature is there. This guy is sitting there in 57 degrees F. Chilly to be naked and sitting still!

Is this still going on? I'd almost forgotten all about it!

Damn I missed the naked guy.

They can be pulled up in the archives. I have pulled up the guy proposing (and being turned down) several times to play for friends who are as soft-hearted as I am. Plus the clip showing various plinthers in the rain is interesting, the music they added really makes it.
But my alltime favorite is LilacBonzai from early on. Another one naked part of the time, but a beautiful performance piece.

Naked on a plinth at 57F is a generous gesture.
