tour guide in Rome
We have finally found an apartment near the piazza Novena. Now I would like to find a good tour guide. Someone here recommended Rich with rome-day-tours.com. Any other comments? Also, does anyone know how to make arrangements to hear the Pope say Mass?

In 2001, we took a guided tour with Daniella Hunt and thoroughly enjoyed it. She is an ex-pat living in Rome and very knowledgeable. You can find info at:

I don't know when you will be in Rome, but this page on the Vatican's Web site gives the list of the liturgical celebrations at which the Pope will preside:
http://www.vatican.va/news_services/...lendar_en.html
The list only goes until June; you will have to check back again for later months. Be aware that the schedule is sometimes moved back or forward by an hour or two.
In the summer, the regular Wednesday audiences most likely take place at Castel Gandolfo, the Pope's summer residence.

has instructions on how to obtain tickets for papal events.

If you are going to be around the Vatican the day before whatever event you want to attend, you may be able to obtain tickets there. If you just want to attend the Wednesday audience, no tickets required, unless you really, really want a seat.
Tour guide - we used Context Rome for a Vatican tour and loved our guide. They were most helpful in lining up details for our trip and interested in feedback after the trip. All very pleasant people to deal with all around. Check them out. www.contextrome.com
