I toured Turkey with Pacha Tours (they have a New York office) and it was excellent. Turkey rises to the top of my best vacations. If you'd like my trip diary please e-mail me at nbale02 @earthlink.net. I would definitely go with again.

If you need more information on Turkey, you might look up posts by a regular Fodorite named Sinan. He's a great guy, and LOVES to talk about his country, lol. Reading his posts, I can't help but smile. He's full of information and loves to share!

I originally planned to go with OAT (Overseas Adventure Tours). They are very small group with some different itinerary ideas and a little education thrown in. But then I was talked into doing my own think independently, partly because we had more time to spend and wanted to do a little more than the tours allowed. I don't regret my decision, but if going on a tour, I'd still look at OAT.

We went to Turkey last April with 3 and 8 year old children. We had been given the name of a tour guide who works for many of the large companies in Istanbul. We had never travelled in such relative comfort, mostly being used to doing it all on our own. This guide is great, and went to great lengths to set up whatever we wanted. He's knowledgeable, and fluent in English and German. His direct email address is [email protected]
