Ummmmm...interesting question given recent posts about money not being an object but I'll bite anyway with this question for you:

How are you defining the term "top" ...price alone, snob appeal, location, amenities offered, etc. and are you planning to actually book a room or is this simply a rhetorical question?

Hello Natalie:

Instead of answering your question with another question, I will try to answer. My picks: 1 - Hotel Eden (gracious, quiet and very well managed - the bar at the top has a great view of Rome and it is near the Spanish Steps); 2- St. Regis Grand which is outrageously luxurious, but the location is not as good as the Eden; 3 - Cavalieri Hilton which is in the suburbs but has a really good restaurant (La Pergola).

Thank you both! Basically my fiance and I booked the Exedra for my honeymoon BUT the location is not ideal AFTER researching where I want to go and when. I would rather be centrally located.

Additionally, I'd like to stay at a luxury hotel centrally located. I am sure there may be snob appeal, which I would prefer not to experience, however, it might be unavoidable at these higher end hotels.

Hotel Eden sounds good as well. I will look into the Hilton location to see if its too far out of the way.

Overall in Rome please rank the top five hotels.

Thank you very much
Natalie

Natalie,

I, too, have been in a similar situation. The best place that I have learned to go to find out more about the hotels in Rome is to go to

http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/T...Vacations.html

Copy and paste that whole link...but it rates the hotels in order from what normal people rate it and you can check for 5 star hotels if you would like. I like that site for it gives you a lot of unbiased opinions and real life experiences from people that have been there/slept there. I, too, have looked at the Minerva and Exedra earlier but I am not looking for that kind of place. I am looking for a place that is not so upscale, a little more inviting and romantic. I personally have been looking into Hotel 47. I think it is a 4.5 star and it is supposedly in a great location.

Just some things for you to look into. Good luck on your honeymoon and enjoy your trip!

Get a suite at the Del Senato. It is in the best location possible and is as nice as you'd expect it to be for it's price.

For the person that doesn't want the over the top luxury but still a very nice hotel in a good location, how about the Inghilterra?

If money were NO object, you'd find me at the de Russie. Oh, la la.
