Too cold for Turkey in March?

I am contemplating going to Turkey in March . . . Istanbul, the Cappadoccia area . . . I've looked at the historical weather but need/want some "real" travelers' experiences.

Will it be cold and miserable? What can I expect?

I don't have to have 80 degree weather but I hate to be bundled up and still freezing all day.

Thank you in advance,
Sandy

Sandy-our family went to Turkey last year (the latter part of March)and it was great! We spent time in Istanbul and down at the coast at Izmir/Ephesus,etc. We wore khakis and layered with a t-shirt/sweater or light jacket in Istanbul. When we were down at the coast-my teenagers hauled out the shorts and t-shirts.It lightly rained for a few hours a couple days but other than that-it was fabulous weather!I would pack clothes that you can layer especially since Istanbul just got 4-6 inches of snow this week which is not normal. Our family always travels with those Columbia coat systems(shell coat with fleece zip out lining) and we find that they do double duty for rain and the cold wherever we travel.
If you go on the Bosphorus boat trip in Istanbul-bring a jacket/sweatshirt as it can get chilly.Any other questions-let me know. Have a great trip!

Sandy:

Would you be going to Turkey with tour group or planning your own trip ??? I am considering a trip during March that's being led by a Professor from Tyler, TX. (http://socialscience.tyler.cc.tx.us/mkho/springbreak/index.htm)

By chance, has anyone done this trip? Prof Khosrowshahi says this is his 7th time doing it.
