to those who have been to spain recently

what is the average cost of living (food, transport...) in spain. I hear that the euro made everything more expensive, how true is this? i have been reading "the rough guide to Spain" and it says that a three course meal in a moderate restaurant would cost around 20 euro, how true is this? please be as specific as you can.
thanx everyone

Generally, I found costs in Spain lower than in Europe. You can certainly get a 3 course meal for less than 20 euros and many eating establishments offer a 'menu del dia' for 10-15 euros sometimes less. There are also many fast food establishments (American and European). Most of the restaurants/bars in the tourist areas are clean (except for the floors which for some reason they never seem to sweep). Enjoy your trip!

Sara,

I live in Ireland and I went to Spain last March. I found it very cheap compared to Ireland and some othere european countries. Food and drink was very cheap and the budget hotels we stayed in were a great price when compared to the rest of Europe. I think you would eat well for 20 eurospp. I think we only ever spent that much once in Madrid. Granted we did not eat in any upmarket places just normal ones where the Spanish people ate.
