Virtually everyone in the travel business in Greece speaks English. You don't need to speak Greek.
The possible exception to the speaking English thing, might be some taxi drives who suddenly don't understand English when it comes time to give change back after paying the fare.
Have a great trip, get into Greek mode, relax enjoy whatever comes it all adds to the experience.

Thank you for everyone's well wishing. I expect it will be fantastic. One more question, Travel Jan or anyone else...
If I you had one more day, how might you re-structure the itinerary to make the most of seeing Greece.
For me the choice is either going further to see more of Laconia from Nafpilo or to stay a couple nights on the Cyclades.
How would you structure the itinerary as it currently stands with that extra day?
thank you.
I will write a travel report when this is over. Thanks again.

I have added a day to my trip, but I am really stuck. How do I maximize my time to get history and beaches?
How should I fill in these blank days? Also this itinerary can be changed. I do not necessarily have to follow how it is already laid out, but I do want to see Athens and Nafplio as part of this trip.
Day 1- Arrive in Athens in afternoon
Day 2 - Athens - Plaka, the Acropolis and, other musuems
Day 3 - Delphi
Day 4- Travel to Nafplio
Day 5 - Tour with you. Visit Mycenae and Epidaurus stay in Nafplio.
Day 6 -
Day 7 -
Day 8 -
Day 9 - I must be in Athens this night. My plane leaves the next day.
I would like to find a mixture of history and water. For me the choice is either going further to see more of Laconia or Messenia from Nafplio or to stay a couple nights on the Saronic Islands or Cyclades. Also to note, I do not want to rent a car. I would like get places by public transportation such a bus.
On Day 6 I am currently booked to stay in Nafplio although this can be changed. From Nafplio, my initial thought is to go from Tolo to and then go to Spetses for a night Day 7. The following day I would take a boat to Aegina and spend the night there on Day 8. Then on third day of Day 9 I would return to Athens. Is this route possible? If I were to do this itinerary, on Day 6 would it be possible to go fishing?
Another thought is going further into Laconia or Messenia such as seeing Olympia and staying in Pirgos or even going to Zakinthos. Is this possible or is it too difficult to do by public transport from Nafplio?
If you think I should go to the Cyclades and can work it in, let me know. I do want to go somewhere tranquil and not overrun by a mob party scene. I would prefer history and authentic Greece.
Thank you.

You keep adding quantity rather than quality. You chose Athens+Nafplio, so bare with them. Allow a couple of days for relaxation on Nafplion area, return to Athens, there are tons of things to do there, but if all you care about is beach, then find a hotel somewhere like Glyfada or Voula. It is not too far from airport, there are some averrage beaches, you could go swimming in lake Vouliagmeni one day. Simple. Stop trying to add islands for a few hours, there is no point.
