Hi, I've searched extensivly here and used the ratp.fr site to try and find some public transportation routes to and from the Hotel Monge but I'm still unclear on a couple things. There are several posts about this topic, but the routes never end being described since people always end up recommending taxis.

We are arriving on the Eurostar Tues. around noon. Rapt guide shows a 24 minute journey: line 4 (port orleans) from Gare Du Nord to Chatalet, and then a connection to line 7 to place monge.

This seems simple enough...but I wanted to verify something...I see line 7 splits farther down past place monge, I just wanted to make sure both ends of the line stop at all the preceeding metro stops??

We will be heading to CDG sunday at 10am. Here is what the journey guide recommends:

1. Go to : Place Monge (Jardin des Plantes) - Metro 3 minutes

Direction : La Courneuve-8-Mai-1945
from : Place Monge (Jardin des Plantes)
to : Chatelet 6 minutes

Correspondence at : Chatelet-Les Halles - RER 6 minutes

Direction : Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV
from : Chatelet-Les Halles
to : Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1

My question here is on the last leg of the journey...what is Aeroport de Roissy Aerogare? Also that portion shows as a bus even though I didn't select the bus option...is that some sort of airport shuttle?

Also, I have read that you need to take the B3 train with destination Roissy CDG.

I never suggest changing lines at Châtelet if there's any way to avoid it - and in your case, there is.

From Gare du Nord, take M&eacute;tro Ligne 5 to Place d'Italie, then Ligne 7 to Place Monge. This route is a little longer, and a <b>lot</b> easier.

If you don't mind changing trains twice to have a faster trip, ride RER B to Denfert-Rochereau, Ligne 6 to Place d'Italie, then Ligne 7 to Place Monge.

Either of these routes can be reversed to get you to CDG. Ligne B3 will be marked as A&eacute;roport Charles de Gaulle TGV 2. Ignore the aerogare Roissy information.

Aeroport de Roissy Aerogare is just what SCNF calls CDG. They do it that way to compound the confusion.

Just to answer your question about the line 7, yes the metro does stop at every station until the line forks.

(Aerogare is French for &quot;terminal&quot;... and Roissy is what many French people call Charles de Gaulle airport)

At the bottom of your reservation with Hotel Monge are extensive directions for arriving at that hotel by any possible means. Just follow them. Julie knows what she is doing.

I'll take the advice and avoid the connection in chatelet.

Also, just for the record, my reservation email didn't have any directions at all, neither does their website, only a map.

I just returned from Hotel Monge. I was going to take the bus from Gare Nord to the Hotel and the RER to CDG at the end of the visit. Instead I took a taxi from the train station to the hotel for about 12 euros, and reserved a shuttle at the hotel for the airport. The cost was 25 euros as I was alone, but would have been 19 euros each for more than one person. Also, my friend booked the shuttle from home for less. I was glad I didn't have to deal with luggage on the bus, and the shuttle driver dropped me at the exact entrance (they're numbered), so I found this to be reasonably priced and convenient.

The only negative was that I was the first pick-up to the airport and the ride took about 70 minutes. But I was able to check-in in about five minutes, so I had plenty of time at the airport. As I was early for the gate (flying United), it took about five minutes to get through security. That was the easiest and fastest I've ever gone through check-in and security at CDG. This was at Terminal 1.

I learned on this board that I would not be able to bring bottled water through security. In reality, I was able to bring bottled water and a sandwich onboard with no problem. They didn't make me take off my shoes either.

By the way, we enjoyed Hotel Monge and the location. It is a good value.
