Hi Guys

Me and 3 friends have planned to drive from Amsterdam to Paris to Barcelona and was just wondering if anyone had any tips or any information we need before we set off.
We already have ferries and accommodation booked so its more about finding out any extra info we may need, any good routes you would recommend or any decent places to stop off and visit along the way or in the cities Basically loading ourselves up with as much info as possible.

We arrive in Amsterdam on the 26th April and stay for 2 nights. Driving to Paris for one night for the 28th. then doing the long drive to Barcelona 29th and 30th. We then have an over night ferry to ibiza where our journey ends.

It is a 16 hour drive, 4 adults with pit stops probably closer to 20.

Lucky for you roadside food, especially in France, is excellent.

With ferries and accommodations already booked, all I can say is enjoy the drive.

I do not get the intent of part of your posting.
You say you have accommodation booked but want a route?
Tips:

Know your rules of the road. Know what safety gear is required for each country you travel through.
Do not break any speed limit or you will receive a fine sent to your UK address.
some of the above can easily be found with a search.
I feel you are perhaps not allowing enough time on some of your drive. Break it up sleeping whilst at the wheel is not the best idea is it?

Pay attention to speedcameras.
There is one leaving Amsterdam towards Belgium that cost me 100 € and my daughter 250 €.
Limit there is 100 kmh I think...

Lots of congestion on Bruxelles ring if you are there between 7 30 - 10 am and 5- 7 pm in weekddays.

Lots of works on E19 from Bruxelles to Valenciennes and border is manned by police checking randomly but mostly creating huge traffic jams - esp on fridays evenings.

From Amsterdam towards Utrecht there is a 'traject controle' which means that you will get a fine if you travel that stretch of road faster than the speed limit. Dutch people know that this is not a joke - I know many Belgians who got caught there.

If you are going via Antwerpen and Brussel - avoid rush hour.

Disagree about the roadside food in France - on the motorways it's the usual motorway stuff unless there's a branch of 'Paul' that makes sandwiches to order. Going off the motorway for lunch, you really have to know where to look to find a decent place.

One day drive to Paris, and 2 days to Barcelona; would be plenty of time if you have several people that can drive.

Just to add; if you want to stop and visit any cities between Paris and Barcelona, then 2 days is not a lot of time.

Drive to Barcelona via Clermont Ferrand, and cross the bridge at Millau - it's beautiful.

I would change the Paris stay to some smaller city on the general route. Driving into and out of Paris, (not to mention, what do you intend to do with your car in Paris?) for one night seems like a waste of time and money and energy. Yeah, I understand that is the general driving route, but it's too much trouble to stay in Paris one night, especially with a car. It must be that these folks have never been to Paris so think they have to see it on this trip?

If you really have booked some hotel on the outskirts around the peripherique (Bagnolet would be my best guess given the route) with easy/free parking, and just use the metro to/from Paris for the night, that would be more reasonable. Driving into the center of Paris is going to cost you a lot both that day and the next day compared to doing something like staying in Bagnolet right near the metro and tram stops, and near the peripherique. Or around Porte de Vincennes or Montreuil. there are several Hipotels around that route.

The Hipotel Pritania is just off the peripherique near both a metro and tram stop in the 20th arr. It's only a 2* hotel so quite reasonable in price. You'd have to ask about how easy it is to park around there, it was just an idea. That would also solve the problem of the Critair stickers--as I presume that just means you are subject to a ticket if caught, they can't bar every street leading into Paris to check everyone, I imagine. And being just inside the peripherique, you wouldn't be driving in Paris center at all. Although that rule only applies to weekdays, but you'll be there on Friday.

This trip is simply point A to point B. You'd be well advised to fly from AMS to BCN and then take the ferry to Ibiza. Or, fly directly there.

Maybe OP doesn't like to fly.

Maybe more than one ferry so means UK to NL? Needs confirmation.

Personally I would skip Paris completely, especially for only one night. It isn't a logical place to visit on a drive from Amsterdam to Barcelona.
