time to hotel?

We are arriving at Gatwick 6:55 am. Will take the gatwick express to Victoria. Our hotel is walking distance from Victoria. About what time can we expect to arrive at our hotel?

Retrieving my luggage, going through customs, has never taken me more than 30 minutes approx (except for once in Paris).I recall that the Gatwick Express train took about a half hour or so to Victoria. Beyond that, the time for the "walking distance" is up to you.
It is unlikely that your room will be available for you as you probably know.
So plan on checking in, leaving your bags, and starting your visit to London!

Elaine - that's my plan! I am so glad it doesn't take any longer than that! I was afraid it take 2-3 hours to get to my hotel once I arrived. Thanks for the info!

Betty, just to be cautious, I think you ARE looking at about 2 hours from landing time, including walking time to the hotel, buying the train ticket, perhaps having just missed the train, etc.

Not being nearly as large as Heathrow, LGW is usually pretty quick unless you have to sit out on the tarmac waiting for a gate. You do not need to buy your train ticket before you get on the train. The conductor will sell you a ticket on board. The station is right at the terminal.

Yes, I heard to you buy your tickets after you board. That's good to know.

I have read that it cost 2 pounds extra to buy on the train.

Marge, you are thinking of the Heathrow Express. The Gatwick Express tickets cost the same on board as they would from the ticket office - about £10-11 for a single.
