Tickets for Uffizi Museum on Back order.
Hi All,
We made reservations & paid for them with goporta.com for the Uffizi in Florence.Today we receoved notice that the tickets are on back order & we won't know anything about the reservations for 3-10 days. I'm concerned that if we have to wait 10 days & don't get the reservations it will be too late to get tickets somewhere else. Has anyone had any experience with this company? Also this is the third time today I have posted this message but when I go to look for responses I can't find my own message or any responses. If someone see this please contact me & tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks so much.

Hi Luvitaly,
I am going to Florence in October. Unfortunately, I've never used this company, but I contacted the hotel I'm staying at and asked them to make the Uffizi and Accademia reservations for no fee(per the recommendation of other Fodorites). They were more than happy to do it (as most hotels in Italy are).
Also, if you click on your name in this discussion, you'll find each of your postings, as well as anything you may have replied to.
Good luck!

luvitaly,
i've only ever used the official site/phone number: http://tinyurl.com/o567t
You could always try to go through them in the event that your tickets don't come through
If it makes you feel any better about it being "last minute" my friends (though this was 2yrs ago) went to the booking desk the day they arrived in Florence and made a reservation for 2days later were able to get one. I am under the impression that unlike the Last Supper or the Borghese, there is no "person" or "time" restriction so they book as many as they can get (those more knowledgeable will definately correct this if I'm misunderstanding
)
It looks like maybe your earlier posts from today didn't take.

We just returned from Florence yesterday. We visited the Uffizzi Gallery on Friday (9/9), and the Accademia and the Pitti Palace on Saturday. We had made reservations in advance before leaving the US; no fee paid at time of booking. Once we got to these museums, we found we needed to use the reservations only for the Accademia (E 3.50 per person on top of the E 8.50 or E 9.00 fee). The Accademia reservations saved us about an hour of waiting.
Hope this helps.

you can always sign up for a organized tour of the Museums (Uffizi, Academia, etc...) when you get to your hotel (or call the concierge). Many tour companies operate in Florence and you should be able to find a tour you can join with a day or two's notice. Tours are a little more expensive, but they have reservations and guide you through the museums.

Hi Luv,
To find all of your posts, click on your name.
Cancel the Uffizi order.
Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 1016868 (dial around number), 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.
Have a nice visit.

We are going to Florence next month and wanted tickets to Academia and Uffizi. My wife checked them on booking sites, and they were about 25 € each. So I checked here, called directly this AM, and got a booking number for tickets which I believe will cost about 10 each when we get there.
The telephone prompts are not clear, and the English is not perfect, but persistence pays.
A good site for museum info is http://www.firenzemusei.it/00_english/index.html
Thanks, Ira.
