Stephanie I'm so glad you had such a great time on your trip to London.Your account of it was so enjoyable & enthusiastic,it made me feel ashamed that, despite the fact I only live 1.5 hour away from London,I visit it so rarely.Your account of your vacation has made me determined to go more often.Hope you can make it back over here again!

I am so glad you enjoyed the report, even I have had to go back and read it to make myself relive it all - along with going through the pictures I took! I am ready to go back!!!!! Just waiting for a good deal on airfare...

Stephanie, great trip report. Next time come in May - the weather is much nicer and the flowers are out. Also please do try and escape from London, I know its hard but there are great places to see outside. The Cotswolds for one, Warwick and Kenilworth which both have castles. I am a tad biased as I live there! I am so glad you enjoyed our country. I am off to Florida in April - hope I enjoy it half as much as you did here!

Loved the stories about going to London with your son. Thank you for sharing them, Stephanie. We're planning on visiting in July with our sons (13 and 16)and your report is SO helpful. It makes me really excited. Does anyone have recommendations for teens? We'll be staying in at 51 Buckingham Gate, an apartment hotel. Has anyone stayed there?

Kathy-is 51 Buckingham Gate next door to or part of the St James Court Hotel? If it is , we stayed there a few years ago and loved it! Buck Gate is a great location, there is a big pub on the corner called the Albert that is very great-good food, atmosphere, big, the kids can go in,the tube station is a block and a half away, there is a bus stop right around the corner for the #11 bus that takes you everywhere! especially to Covent Garden and that area, Green Park is there,Westminster Abbey-they are all just moments away from your address and then of course there is Buckingham Palace, at the end of the street! you and your family will have such a good time!c

Stephanie: Great report! My husband & I are arriving in England July 20th at Gatwick Airport. We will be staying in Russell Square for 4 nights. Was your hotel anywhere near here? We're staying at the Imperial Hotel.

Stephanie: Do you have any suggestions for restaurants? My husband and I will be arriving at Gatwick at 2:00 p.m. on Sat. the 20th of July and staying until the 24th, where we'll be off to Southend, where I was born until the 1st. of Aug. Would you or anyone else like to suggest an itinerary?
Penny: There is a fantastic Indian restaurant right across the street from the Jury's Great Russell Hotel...I think the name was Malibar Junction - and it was fabulous with great service!

Enjoy your trip

As a lot of posters have noted, Stephanie's travel journal has made a Londoner smile.
