Thoughts on Sardinia during October

We're thinking of spending about a week on Sardinia in October. Not looking to have laying on the beach swimming weather. Just want to be able to explore the island. I've checked weather sites, but was hoping to get some feedback from anyone who has traveled there off season. Thanks

We were in Sardinia mid-October last year and had a wonderful trip. We, too, were not looking for beach swimming (though a few souls were out in the water). Looking back at pictures, it looks like very early morning and after sunset we wore light jackets or a sweater, but during the day we had full sunshine days and were in short sleeves and capris.

Weather was beautiful the whole time and we were able to take in a wonderful celebration in the city of Gavoi, in the heart of the Barbagia-Land of the Bandits, and it was marvelous with the tasting of produce, the traditional dancing in the streets and the concert in the local church by women in beautiful costumes. (seen here after an historic explanation singing for the legislature at Xmas http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=...D521C82884B07D)

In my opinion October is the perfect time to go if you aren't planning on swimming/sun bathing. We weren't bothered by mosquitoes and we missed out on the summer crowds and the November rains that caused such terrible flooding in 2013.

Hi YT! (and eks too!)

We spent two weeks in Sardinia in February 2013 - much further "off season" than you're contemplating and we loved it!

We spent one week in Cagliari (in a fabulous apartment we highly recommend) and one week in Alghero. Blog link here (a bit jumbled up time wise)

There was a lovely trip report on Sardinia in September a few months ago - link here

Could happen anywhere I suppose, but there was a deadly cyclone hit Sardinia in mid-November last year...

thanks! Sardinia is part of a longer trip and we're thinking a week, maybe 10 days there. Wanted to go there for along time, so happy to finally be planning a trip there.
Elizabeth, I think I read your blog awhile back when I first thought about going to Sardinia. Love the comment about having purses bigger than the car. Is there a link to your apt that you recommend?

Here's the Cagliari apartment link - it's an interesting configuration -- 2 apartments that can be combined but we rented just the front part (one bedroom) are the first 5 pictures on their site. (the entrances are separate).

Outside Alghero we rented a large apartment this charming villa if your plans take you that far north
