Well I thought I had everything under control! I was even congratulating myself for making a list this morning. I never expected to flub up like I did with the ATM card. You know what the worst thing is? I planned on going to the bank tomorrow morning to cash my paycheck. In efforts to be efficient with my time, I was going to notify the teller while I was there about making withdrawals from France. Then we got a new card in the mail today, or I should say my husband did, and I didn't. So I called the bank about it and they asked for the numbers on my card to see if it had expired like my husband's previous one had...well, well, no card!
Oh the best laid plans of mice and men. Luckily Marcy is not scatterbrained like me. I think we will have an excellent week in Paris (and yes, you'll hear all about it!)

All is well what ends well - is this how the saying goes?
Don't you take photo copies of both sides of all cards you want to take with you, and leave one copy with someone at home? This shouldn't be done in less then 24 hrs before departure.

I did the drivers license thing once. I flew across the country and went up to the car rental desk to pick up my car. Oops, no license in my wallet! Then I remembered that I had left it in the car at home. I called home and my wife copied it and then faxed it to the agency's desk. They accepted it and I was driving away in short order.

Many years ago some friends realized at their wedding reception that their passports were in their bank safe deposit box - inaccessible on a Saturday evening for Sunday AM honeymoon departure. Since it was a small town, they knew bank manager's name and figured they could call and beg them to open for them. Sorry - vault is on a timer and nothing was going to open it before Monday AM.
This being prior to 9/11, they were able to fly with official voter registration cards, which they got by calling the mayor at home and begging him to get someone to issue these so they could go on their honeymoon.
