Thanks for that adventure story maxman! I can easily picture it.
Makes me feel lucky. I went up a cable car three times, twice up the Midi and once up the Courmayeur Skyway, and those were about the three clearest days of my trip. One day in either direction and I might have had a similar story to tell.

They are in chronological order so the Aiguille du Midi shots are down at the bottom if you just want to jump down to there.
BTW, I did have a craft beer, a porter, at Beer O'clock in Chamonix during the afternoon I arrived. Very enjoyable sitting at an outside table and watching people walk by.
However, on the first day of our trek I was introduced to Brassiere du Mont Blanc - La Rousse and it was love at first taste. No looking back.
